Kalamandalam Sreekandhan Nair was born on Sept 12, 1958 in Ernakulam District. His father is Bhargavan Nair and mother is Padmavathi Amma. His primary education is 10th.

He learned Kathakali for 8 years in Kerala Kalamandalam and has practised under many famous teachers in Kalamandalam. Now he is teaching Kathakali.

Has expertised in in all types of characters and has performed Kathakali in many stages.
