Dr. A.K. Sabhapathi was born on March 6, 1935 in Ernakulam District. His father is A.S. Krishna Iyer and mother is Pachai Nayaki. By profession he is a Doctor with MBBS and MS and is working as Doctor in Ernakulam.

He learned Kathakali for last 15 years under Kalamandalam Sreekandhan Nair. Has expertised in "Minukku" and "Thadi" characters. Has performed Kathakali for many Kathakali Clubs and other stages.
