Kottarakkara Ganga was born on Oct 15, 1952 in Kottarakkara, Kollam District. Her father is C.Subrahmaniam and mother is Parvathi Ammal. Had passed Bsc Chemistry in 1974. She is learning Kathakali from 1982.

She practised Kathakali under many famous teachers namely Mayyanad Kesavan Namboothiri, Nelliyod Vasudevan Namboothiri and Kalamandalam Ramachandran Unnithan. 

Has performed Kathakali in many stages of important temples like Thrikkakara, Guruvayoor, Ambalapuzha, etc. Has acted as 'Bakan' in 'Bakavadham' story in the programme "Kathakali Samaroham" in Asianet and participated in 'Ramayanam' story in Dooradarsan. She had passed the screen test of Dooradarsan. Acted as 'Veerabhadran' for the commercial advertisement for Tourism Department. Her expertise is in "Chuvanna Thadi", "Kari" and "Katalan" characters.

She was awarded by Sree Sarada Educational Society, Thiruvananthapuram as 'the women expertised in Thadi characters and the award was given by Uthradam Thirunal Marthanda Varma Maharaja.

Family: Husband Mr. Soorya Narayanan, is an employee in the Syndicate Bank, and one son Prathap and one daughter Sooryachithra.
