Kalamandalam Krishnaprasad was born on Jan 21, 1963. His father is K.P. Madhavan Nair and mother is Rugminiamma.

He started learning Kathakali from his age of twelve under Evoor Krishnan Nair. His first performance was as Srikrishnan at Evoor Srikrishna Swami Temple in the age of fourteen. After passing SSLC, he joined Kerala Kalamandalam from 1978 to 1986 and passed Diploma of 6 years and PG Course of 2 years with first class. Has practised Kathakali under Kalamandalam M.P.S. Namboothiri, Vazhenkada Vijayan, Kalamandalam Vasu Pisharody, Kalamandalam Gopi, Kalamandalam Ramankutty Nair etc. His expertise is in "Pacha", "Kathi", "Kari" and "Minukku" characters.

Has received M.A. Vellody Medal (Award for best student), Vazhenkada Kunchu Nair Award (for best 'cholliyattam'), Kummini Vasudevan Namboothiri Award (for the student who gets the highest score in the 6th year), Cherthala Kathakali Club Award, Guru Chengannur Award etc. Has performed Kathakali all around Kerala and in France.
