Kandalloor Unnikrishnan 
was born on 12 August 1971 at Puthuppally, Kyamkulam. His father is Sri. Kandalloor Sadasivan and mother is Smt. Bhasura. He started his lessons in Chenda under the guidance of Sri. Kandalloor Sadasivan at the age of 12. Later, he joined at Kshethra Kalapeedom, Vikom and practiced under Sri. Pazhoor Damodaramarar, Pulippura Krishnan Kutty and Sadanam Divakaran. His chenda arengettam in kathakali was at Sri Vallabha temple, Thiruvalla. He also practiced kathakali chenda under the guidance of Sri. Kalamandalam Sivadasan. He is now professionally engaged in katahakli chenda, Thayambaka, Pancharimelam and expert in performing Khethra vadyams in south Kerala.
He is the recipient of Pallippad Achutha Marar Puraskaram "Yuvakalaratna Award" constituted by Kaladarpanam in 2005.
His family - Wife Meena, Son Harikrishnan and Daughter Meera Krishnan.
