has participated in various cultural programs within her local community since the age of 5. After several years of continuous learning and determination, Sapna also received her certificate for completing the course of Indian classical dance known as Bharatanatyam. Her guru, Gauri Ghatge taught her graceful movements, expressions, and emotions necessary to perform classical and folk dance.
Sapna has incorporated her training in Bharat Natyam and her own knowledge of dance to create a South-Asian fusion dance team, Jhalak, at Drexel University. She was a co-founder of Jhalak and participated in multiple inter-collegiate dance competitions, placing first in many. She has taught Bharatanatyam and Bollywood dance classes at the Arya Dance Academy.
Sapna has also led Bollywood dance workshops, performed at weddings and several local Philadelphia events such as the Susan B. Komen and the Philadelphia Mayor’s commission event. Sapna has also performed at Corporate events to raise cultural awareness at Merck & Co., Hershey Company, and Huntingdon Valley Library and has performed live on the CBS Philly Talk show. To this day her passion for dance continues to help shape and define her and she is constantly looking for new opportunities to grow and perform.
