Get a taste of the idyllic
village life, on a Kerala farm at the Kodeeri Natural Camp (KNC).
KNC is not just about holidaying
in the country. It is a wholesome experience
of the mind and the body.
It is about finding that human spirit which believes in harmony and kinship.
It is also about respecting tradition and human values, and caring for
nature. Kodeeri is a base camp and facilitating center for travelers in
pursuit of lifestyles, traditions, art, culture and values of human societies.
The farm and home
We Namboodiris of the Kodeeri
family belong to the traditional Brahmin community, of Central Kerala.
We moved into this estate in the year 2000. The Kodeeri house is a Naalukettu,
(traditional home with central courtyard) and is about 300 years old and
belonged to a family of warriors. The land surrounding the house is organically
farmed and is lush with coconut, mango, banana betel nut and spice plantations.
Bird life is rich within the plantations, including a pair of occasional
hornbills. The water logged rice fields at the edge of the farmland attract
migratory birds as well.
The farm is self sufficient
to a large extent in food and energy. Milk from the farm cows is processed
into curd and ghee. The biogas generated from cow dung and agricultural
wastes is used for cooking whereas the slurry from the gas plant is used
as manure within the farm.
Location & Climate
The nearest Railway and bus
station is at Kuttippuram town, about 7 kms from KNC. The Kozhikode Airport
is about 40 km towards north from Kuttippuram. Guests will be picked up
from the terminal points.
May - October : Monsoons
November - mid March: (25
to 28°C)
March to May : 35°C
Accommodation & Food
The house has two well-ventilated
non-A/C double rooms with attached bath. The guests can call on the family
members for any assistance. The food will be vegetarian, mostly based on
products grown organically on KNC, and cooked in traditional Kerala Style.

cable TV, services etc. are available for the guests on a cost-sharing
